The cooperation between the Sunwo Plc., dealing with environmental development and innovation, and our Institute for Geography and Environmental Sciences started over a year ago, when Prof. Dr. József Steier visited to Eger. The recently performed engagement is the first stage of this cooperation.

The single page document and its background material has been elaborated by Prof. Dr. János Mika and his colleagues in the Institute. The SMARAGDFA®, growing fast even under dry climate conditions, can be directly used as bio-energy with high calorific value, as light, but strong and elastic wood for furniture, as well, as basic material for food and medicine, among others. Besides that, the high ignition point of the tree, together with the taproots, reducing soil contamination and surface erosion, as well, as the pleasant microclimate and lower air pollution, provided by the large leaves, contribute to sustainability by enhancing environmental safety.

Further information is found on the www.sunwo.eu homepage of our Partner.
