Hungarian Geological Society

The Hungarian Geological Society was founded in 1848. It has about 1000 members. Out of this number, almost 500 are working people, the rest are retired people and students.

The activities of the Society are going on in the framework of Regional Branches (Great Hungarian Plain, South Transdanubia, Central- and North Transdanubia, Budapest, North Hungary) and Thematic Sections (Clay Mineralogy, General Geology, Mineralogy-Geochemistry, Economic Geology, Geomathematics and Informatics, Engineering Geology and Environmental Geology, Education and Training, Palaeontology-Stratigraphy, History of Geology).
